Of the People, By the People, For the People
Hello!
I'm Josh! I've lived in the outskirts of Sparta for something around 30 years.
I'm more of an expert in technology, having been interested in it since I was young and immersing myself in experiencing what it has to offer for decades. I'm a Full Stack Web Developer by trade, but my skill set expands to encompass software development in general, computer hardware and software management, installation and troubleshooting.
I've run data cables through walls and into rafters, written software to transform data into printable materials in bulk, and configured servers to sync data between multiple sites. I can even set the time on the microwave!
I had trouble in school with attendance and general social items. This is outside the norm for me to try to reach out to those around me, but I feel it has to be done. I've gotten invested in politics way past when I was actually able to vote and didn't fully understand what I was voting for at the time. Since then, I've been learning about history, civics and how things actually work and decisions made.
I want to welcome discussion on all manner of topics that would help people locally and beyond.
With that, all policy I will fight for will be people first. The declaration of independence is not a legal document as many of us assumed. It is not enshrined in the constitution.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
These rights however, were not included in the constitution. We need to change that.
People's lives should be put first, not as a statistic or seen as a dollar sign. Governments should work for the common people, not the rich or corporations.
Official conversations, submitted ideas, drafts, votes and anything else affecting people should be accessible by the constituents it affects. The only things that should be kept secret are those relating to national or international security, sealed judicial proceedings or items that will bring direct or indirect harm to constituents thereof. Even then, those items should be reviewed thoroughly occasionally for release to the constituents.
People should be afforded social safety nets, affordable and/or state sponsored healthcare, lifetime accessible and affordable education, the right to try and fail, and most importantly, a place to live and food to survive.
Change has accelerated drastically in the last century. Digital technological expansion has made that exponential.
I am constantly adapting and learning. Everyone in the nation should be as well. We have fallen behind as a nation in every metric that puts people first. We have the largest military in the world, the largest amount of imprisoned in the world, and the highest concentration of wealth and power into the fewest citizens in the world. We need to become the leaders in education, health, and other metrics that actually put people first.
Help each other, help those less fortunate, and please help me and allow me to help you; the people.
